It was tedious and never felt 100 percent right for me (especially because I never quite mastered the perfectly-blended smoky eye), so eventually, I ditched my over-involved beauty routine in favor of the no-makeup makeup look. I’d take my time applying foundation, blending out tri-color lid looks, attempting smudged eyeliner, and trying my hand at over-lined lips.
